Bamboo toothbrushes are all the rage right now !

Whether your trying to live a waste free life or just be a little more eco friendly bamboo toothbrushes are a great alternative to plastic.

There’s advertisements everywhere for bamboo toothbrushes but you never see anything about what to do with them when It’s time for a new one .

A HUGE part of the zero waste movement Is knowing how to dispose of items correctly.

How to Properly Dispose of Bamboo Toothbrushes

The Bristles

Unfortunately the bristles on most bamboo toothbrushes are made out of nylon (plastic) . It is not compostable but it is recyclable . ⁣⁣⁣

Grab some pliers,⁣⁣⁣

(I used my teeth ... not recommended ) pull out all the bristles , and recycle them .

⁣⁣⁣The bristles are really small so collect them in an old water bottle or container and recycle them once it’s full .

If possible the bristles should go in a plastic recycling and not a mixed recycling bin .

The Handle

The bamboo handle is completely compostable! Just throw it in your compost and you’re good to go !⁣⁣⁣

If you don’t have a compost put it in your garden or stick it in some soil ! ( It can sometimes take a few years to fully compost )

Easy Peasy !

Reuse & Repurpose

Don’t forget to reuse your toothbrush for as long as you can !

Toothbrushes are great for cleaning hard to reach places or as a fun paintbrush for you and your kids ! ⁣⁣⁣

(Definitely don’t use your teeth to pull out the bristles if you do this )

The handles are amazing for all kinds of crafts or as labels for your garden !

Eco friendly alternatives are becoming so popular right now and that makes me want to do a happy dance .Things are changing , people are changing , we are learning to be better !

If you don’t have a bamboo toothbrush yet Brush Naked and BKIND are my favourite right now.
